Prologue The meteorite tore across the sky like Apollo's chariot, leaving a trail of fire in its wake.  For what felt like an eternity, the world watched in both fear and awe. Soon the space rock exploded in the atmosphere, sending chunks of itself all over the planet. The craters left behind were like jagged scars on the Earth's surface. For many, they thought it was the end of the world. After the hellfire and brimstone was done raining down on them, the people believed the worst was over. It wasn't.   The man found himself driving down a long, narrow road. He wasn't sure where he was, as he had aimlessly turned onto an exit to get to this road. He had no real reason for driving around, but he felt he needed to do so. He was especially unsure of where he was going. The road seemed to stretch on forever and gave no indication of changing direction.  The road that he could see was worn with cracks that snaked their way over the gray surface. He knew others had traveled down this path as skid marks and busted pieces of tires ocassionally appeared in the glow of his high beams.
